A survey (December 2010) of business people by People On The Go has revealed some intriguing statistics and helps us to re-shape our thinking about how best we can communicate with our customers.
The challenge now is to whether or not the traditional face to face approach is actually the most effective afterall?
The survey revealed that the typical business person spends 1.18 hours a day social networking online and an incredible 3.27 hours using email.
This amounts to 55% of the working week and therefore an opportunity now for demonstrating that those two communication channels are potentially the most significant for reaching, influencing and ultimately selling to your customers.
Do not assume that your customers NEED to have a face to face meeting to buy from you. Neither should you assume that ALL of your customers will behave in this way. Customer segmentation is critical to ensure that those spending 55% of their time using social media and email are the ones you communicate and market to in that way.
