CLIC24 Raises £30,000

CLIC24, Europe's only charity 24 hour mountain bike marathon, founded and managed by Viper's Neil Wilkins this year raised £30,000 for children with cancer and leukaemia.

The event next year reaching its tenth anniversary, has become a popular fixture on the annual mountain biking calendar and is as equally popular with experienced racers as it is for novices seeking their first endurance event.

350 riders this year rode 17,600 miles in the 24 hours. The most solo rider laps were an amazing 23 (we have never reached 24 in 24 hours... maybe in 2011?) by Stephen Hodge in his first 24 hour event. The most team laps were 32 by Rock and Road a local Somerset team comprising of, Oliver Taylor, Julian Brine, Simon Sell and Julian Grundy.

"Despite freezing wind and rain at the outset, this year's CLIC24 has proven to be the most popular yet. We should pay credit to all the riders who collectively have raised an amazing amount of sponsorship which goes to help support children suffering with cancer and leukaemia. Every day in the UK ten families hear that their child is diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia so the money our event raises goes such a long way to supporting them at the most difficult of times. Next year will be our tenth anniversary so we hope to welcome many more riders and their families to our event in May." - Neil Wilkins, Event Organiser

Details of the 2011 tenth anniversary event will be released on the website very soon.
