Viper Marketing & Communications Group

Personal Planning for Entrepreneurs

Viper Case Study

The Brief

Two entrepreneurs spent a day each with Viper to clarify their marketing and communication ideas. An international consultant and a financial management guru took time out to share pizza and Post-It’s with us.

It’s hard to know what to do first when you’re on your own. You’ve got a great idea but you’re wading through all the day-to-day treacle that distracts us. You need clarity. You need a plan to shape all those thoughts.

The Solution

The planning framework we use takes people on a logical journey through their idea. We start at the beginning, easily forgotten by some, what is the business Need? Then we work our way through 12 steps picking out the messages, target audiences, opportunities and more.

Entrepreneurs could be characterised as having more ideas than they know what to do with. Our process allowed the entrepreneur to verbalise the concept, with us challenging it which in turn forced the entrepreneur to justify their idea.

Good coffee and pizza were on hand to counteract planning fatigue.

The Result

A logical process and the objectivity that comes with distance from a subject is a powerful combination. We have no emotional connection to the idea. We can rationally approach the subject adding our marketing, communication and project management experience.

Some ideas fell at the first, some great moments of inspiration were captured. Both entrepreneurs left with a plan that structured their time and focus.

We look forward to seeing the plans being put into practice.
