Quick Response Codes Could Fuel Social Media Advocacy

With many technologies that have remained in the public domain for over a decade there comes a time when it's make or break or perhaps acceptance that they'll always remain in the background or niche applications.

The QR code, arguably a more flexible brother or sister to the famous bar-code, just may be about to have its day with the advent of the next generation of social media.

Social Media 2.0 was all about online interaction. Conversations and debates, sharing and caring through social media platforms such as Facebook and Linkedin, Twitter and YouTube. But as we move steadily towards web 3.0 and perhaps social media 3.0 we are likely to see an increased blurring of virtual and real worlds.

For starters just think Facebook Places. Situated at the centre of your iPhone Facebook app it's the beginning of how we'll eventually use Facebook not only to keep in touch with friends and family around the world but with those right next to us, or at least, in the same building or street.

QR codes just might be one of the fuels that links this real and virtual world. At just 59p a shot you can download an app like QR FlipFlop to create your own QR codes which when a friend of family member scans with their mobile device and a free app like Qrafter generates a web link, an email address, v-card or text message.

This type of mobile tagging coupled with location-specific social media may well open up great possibilities for the creative communicators and marketers to both push messages but importantly engage with likeminded others who become advocates as they collect and then pass on those messages to their social networks.

Perhaps QR is about to come of age...

Test QR for yourself by scanning the QR code on this page and see where it sends you.

It is social marketing that is communicating with consumers, not the products. The idea of social media, content marketing is rooted in cultural rituals where a couple gets engaged before they could start dating. The process require that suitor’s intention has to be established through family contacts, integrity checked and a cogent promised is made that he is interested in a serous relationship and not flings. Without these background checks, no one officially allows the intending couple to start dating. If this is violated then, the bride to be would be disciplined.lingerie store

It may seem so redundant, but a lot of people forget that social media networks are not just a platform to broadcast or a soap box from which to pontificate. Merely having a Twitter, Facebook fan page or a YouTube account is not enough, you have to listen to the people.

However, the pitfalls of a poorly or ill-conceived plan are myriad, and social media and conversation marketing by themselves are only a part of an integrated marketing solution. Although it’s important to stress the value of building relationships through social media, it’s incredibly difficult to achieve success when you’re developing those relationships in an unstructured fashion.seo company canada

Using social media for advocacy may seem utterly banal and pedestrian, but it is too easy to forget that many non-profits or even revolutionary movements began as one person turning to a friend and asking for support. Though part of a Me culture that is notoriously self-indulgent, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are prime places to fight for your cause.work from home
