How to make 24 hours last 6 months
CLIC24 2011, the tenth anniversary of the unique charity 24hour mountain bike endurance event, sprung into life back in December 2010, some six months before its regular slot in the cycling calendar in mid May.

Logistics planning, rounding up volunteers, promotion and marketing and the all important risk assessments take many months of thinking, talking and emailing to come together at the end in a seamless weekend where participants can settle back to the real task at hand of riding thousands of miles and raising thousands of pounds for CLIC Sargent.

In fact this year the riders totalled 1,621 laps of the course on the Mendip Hills equating to over 15,800 miles and an astounding 567,000 metres of ascent! But those numbers are insignificant when it comes to the sponsorship which this year should take the total profit raised by the event to over £360,000, every penny of which goes to help children with cancer and leukaemia.
