Are You Ready to Tender?
We like to help you. We want to help you get the most out of your work with us. And we’re even prepared to help you before you come to us. Here are some wise words about the creative input balanced against the timeline of your project.
Get your ideas out at the start. This is the time to increase value and effectiveness before the costs of change rise too high. The further down the line you go the harder it is to change. And then we’ll just be throwing cliches around like ‘design by committee’ and ‘feature creep’, and no-one likes that.
Even work with a designer or agency to write the brief. They’ll cut through all the filler you’ll want to put in the brief and make it all killer. If you’re not sure what you want or there’s technical elements you’re unsure of, especially around websites, commission an agency for a couple of hours to help you write the brief. This will save time, money and grief in the long run. Or if you’re really nice and buy the coffee they may help you for free. No harm in asking.
During the initial stages of the project pore over the designs, check the site-map, ask for different styles. Provide links and examples to other work you like. Get all the ideas of what could be done. Then get that agreed. Then move on.
The further down the project the more elements become fixed and costly to change. For example the first stages of building a house are like the first stages of building a website. The foundations and walls go in. Changing these at a later stage is tricky to say the least.
With all the free thinking and scoping in place, the foundations and walls fall into place.
If you’re struggling turning your ideas into reality we’ll be happy to discuss them over coffee and get you ready to tender.
