Viper Launches Interactive Web Map and Kiosk
Viper Case Study
The Brief
Viper Strategic helped East Devon AONB to create a digital communication strategy as part of their commitment to their Management Plan.
An element of the strategy included improvement to visitor interpretation of the area in terms of walking and cycling through the area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Solution
Integration of a variety of sources of information from points of interest, route maps, inspiring images and the latest technology helped us to work with the AONB to develop a touch screen internet kiosk that resides in Otterton with support from an interactive mapping website to enable visitors to plan their adventures before they arrive in East Devon.
The services required sympathetic branding and positioning of points of interest and messages to ensure they are in keeping with Devon brand and compliment this environmentally sensitive area.
The beauty of online services is that they can be changed very quickly should an area find it becomes over-used or is in need of additional protection. They also provide a significant benefit to the visitor who can both plan their adventure, be it walking or cycling, before they arrive in the AONB.
Signposting to the most interesting points of interest open up a host of advertising and sponsorship opportunities in the future for local businesses to be part of a network of support (cafes, pubs and attractions).
The Result
Visit East Devon Adventure Map to see the interactive map in action.
The return on the investment will be proven over this summer as statistics come in to show usage both of the services and interest in the specific trails.
This will then feed both measurement of the effectiveness of the Management Plan delivery but also help to feed practical events and guided activities that the AONB offer.
