Scottish Ranger’s Journey
Viper Case Study
The Brief
To give themselves a professional achievement criteria and demonstrate their value the Scottish Countryside Rangers Association (SCRA) have produced a Continuing Professional Development manual. They needed to introduce this to their members, explain it simply and demonstrate it's value to others.
The Solution
We picked up on the idea that the Rangers go on a journey of learning as they develop their skills. We also knew that we had to use language and imagery the Rangers would be familiar with so they wouldn't be turned off the potentially dull subject. The water cycle seemed to fit perfectly. From a small stream, representing the start of a Ranger's professional journey, they moved on down the mountain broadening their skills as they went. The river reaches the sea when all the competencies have been achieved. Evaporation follows showing how feedback and learning is continuous.
The Result
The 3D model was built into a zig-zag leaflet that unfolded to reveal the image. The leaflet gently introduced the subject directing the reader to the new SCRA website to find out more. To complement the leaflet a brand new SCRA site was built to hold the Professional Development manual, its supporting material and explain the wider work of SCRA. The website was built incorporating an easy content management system. Visit the site here
