Mendip Mountain Bike Trails Guide

Viper Case Study

The Brief

The interest in Mountain Biking on the Mendip Hills in Somerset, right near Viper Marketing's HQ, is expanding rapidly.

To date there hasn't been a clear gateway to the Mendips from the adjacent urban centre and mountain biking hub of Bristol. Until now with this year's opening of Bad Ass Bikes in Burrington Combe.

But how would mountain bikers new to the area or those in search of a great day of riding know where to head for.

The Solution

Enter stage right, the Bad Ass Bikes Mountain Bike Trail Guide.

A free publication, designed by Viper Creative, opens up a wealth of the very best legal mountain bike trails across the Mendip Hills. Step by step route markers on the guide show permitted routes and are colour coded according to intensity and the level of riding experience required.

Taking in the open moorland, intimate wooded tracks and quiet lanes, the guide showcases some of the best riding and most beautiful scenery in the southwest of the UK.

Trail erosion on some of the most popular bridleway has become quite an issue for both local riders and landowners but this is where Bad Ass Bikes helps by referencing the guide when providing visiting riders with recommended routes of the day based on weather and track conditions.

The Result

The guide, available free of charge from the counter in Bad Ass Bikes at the foot of Burrington Combe is a central and key publication both for riders looking to get the most out of the trails in the area as well as supporting as a land and access management tool when weather conditions make some places otherwise impassable, dangerous or susceptible to damaging erosion.
