The Brief
Produce a report that will reveal the current state of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Convert raw data from tables and GIS maps into maps that are informative and easy on the eye.
The Solution
We used our unique combined experience of the countryside and design to produce a report that delivered the right messages visually. We knew people would turn to the maps first so they would become the backbone of the report. All the colour schemes evolved from the maps. Supporting images were chosen with the right colours in mind to tie the whole report together. Tables and graphs then followed. Supporting text was kept together at the start of the document allowing the visually stimulating maps to stay together and be even more powerful.
The Result
A fascinating overview of the state of the Mendip Hills AONB in 2009 for the community and professionals to chew over. Each map and graph reveals more about this nationally protected landscape that will prove a valuable visual guide for years to come. The Mendip Hills AONB Unit intend to update the report every 5 years in line with the AONB management plan. You can see the report here
