Good Health in the Summer Sun
It's all too easy to get swept along by busy days and exciting projects, great social life and stimulating adventures. Full diaries, especially in months like this when the sun is shining, are very easy to achieve as you try to maximise the amount of things you can do.
One thing worth remembering though when you do eventually over plan (and yes this is currently affecting my work and leisure time) is that you need to factor in how you would be able to manage if you didn't have good health.
Cue a bout of this summer flu, viral bug, bacterial cold, whatever it might be..... it hurts and it knocks you for six. A lost voice, aching limbs and a desire to simply sleep are not good friends with preparing your body for Bristol BikeFest, back to back training days in just 36 hours time and a whole host of new projects waiting to be kicked off.
Maybe then it's a good time to think about contingency planning, which we always advocate when advising clients on project and communications management.... who could ride instead of me at BikeFest? can somebody stand in for me on my training days? where can I delegate my work to get the new projects moving without me?
Contingency plans clearly come into being not only at work, but for me this summer, at play too.
Hopefully everything will be fine having spent two days trying to regain good health sat shivering in the summer sun, but maybe next time I practice what I preach and have a back-up plan somewhere up my sleeve.
Nice weather for the time of year though... just wish I had a voice to be able to talk about it...
