UPDATE: Panel Provides Quick Response

Viper Case Study

The Brief

UPDATE: Over Stowey Parish Council have a new interpretation panel that follows the theme designed by Viper for the Quantock Hills AONB Service. The new panel includes the Quick Response code that links people to the AONB website.

The Quantock Hills AONB Service needed a new interpretation panel to explain the wider significance of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. They wanted the panel to reflect their visitor guide and website so that people become more familiar with the brand of the service.

As with any good interpretation panel their should be an action at the end of it. You remember 10% of what you read but 90% of what you do. The team needed an action to come from the panel.

The Solution

The team has been very successful with their digital communication through the website and other social media (following strategic communication planning with Viper), we saw this as an opportunity to link the new panel with their digital world. We incorporated a Quick Response code in the panel that provided a direct link to their website. With a smartphone and a suitable app you simply scan the code, similar to a bar-code, and you've got the link.

We kept the themes of Coast, Heath and Combe developed for the visitor guide and designed the panel around this and the map. Coast, Heath and Combe serves the purpose of explaining the places you can go, simple, but they also act as a management tool for the team of spreading the load away from the highly popular heathland areas.

The Result

The result is a panel that builds on the strong brand, helps the visitor and shows the team as a relevant, forward-thinking organisation that embraces the latest digital technology.
