Viper Ski Season Begins In Earnest

Rich Swann has only been with us for a couple of weeks and already he’s taking a holiday! He’s skiing in Les Deux Alpes in France on a very early season break; it’s not all leasure though as he’s supporting his partner and her fellow teachers on a school trip with 47 students between the ages of 13 and 17.

“It’s great fun” he said from his perch at the bar in the hotel. “This is the second year I’ve been involved. The students are of mixed skiing ability from absolute beginners to very capable, stylish (and fast!) experts but they’re a credit to their school and a pleasure to be with. It’s a bit early in the season and there’s very little snow but we picked a high resort with guaranteed glacier skiing, so there’s plenty of skiing being done. We’ve managed to keep the medical teams (and helicopter crew) busy too, with one student and one teacher being air-lifted off the slopes in the space of half an hour yesterday.

Interestingly work is never far away - some of the students were being filmed and interviewed in their ski school group this morning for the English language Ecole du Ski Francais (ESF) website. The school is a high profile independent and just like in the commercial world, competition is fierce. I was discussing with the teachers the importance of linking the feature and ESF website with the school website.
