Improve your product marketing

I like this one, but I like that one better. Which one shall I buy? There’s only one way to find out… How do you create product marketing that can shift people from one purchase to another?

Here are 6 steps to improve your product marketing:

  1. Engage your left and right brain. Be creative as well as analytical. Balance the tangible benefits of your product with the softer feel-good factors
  2. Passion is a pre-requisite. If you can’t get excited about it, how will your customers? Let your passion spill through in words and pictures.
  3. Compelling story-telling. Make sure you really connect with your audience. What is the name of your ideal target audience? Tell them a story with a beginning, middle and end about how your product will improve their life.
  4. Robust project management. You’re not going to make any sales if you’re marketing is unorganised. Produce a communication or marketing plan.
  5. Don’t ignore the classic 5 Ps (product, place, price, promotion and people). However, price and promotion can be harder to isolate in a digital/virtual world e.g. offering better prices to new customers than existing ones.
  6. Paranoia is good ­ always ask ‘what have I forgotten’ and ‘what happens if…’
